SAKTHI POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE LIBRARY

Welcome to the Sakthi Polytechnic College Library which is one among the central support services of SPC. The mission of the library is to provide information access to the world of knowledge in the form of digital and printed resources to enrich the curriculum and informational needs of the user community.

Sakthi polytechnic library plays a vital role in achieving the cherished objectives of improving the education standard by stimulating academic interest among the students community. Our library has rich collection of both printed as well as electronic resources. It has 33,557 volumes of books which includes 15,416 titles, and 20 well reputed national periodicals. It is also well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of CD-ROMs, video lectures. The library spans 213 square meters and features a study hall with a seating capacity of 60.

Library Rules

  • College ID card is required for getting access to the library.
  • Enter your name and sign in the register before entering library
  • No printed materials, issued books, or personal items may be brought into the library.
  • Silence to be maintained in the library premises.
  • Using mobile phones and any other electronic devices is strictly prohibited in the library premises
  • No refreshments of any kind are permitted in the library premises.
  • Library borrower cards are not transferable. The borrower is responsible for the books borrowed on his/her card.
  • Library borrower cards are valid for the entire duration of the course to access library facilities. At the end of the course borrowers cards shall be returned to the library.
  • Before leaving the book issue counter, members must ensure that the books they want to borrow are in good condition and if they found any damage, they must inform to the librarian immediately
  • Borrowers are responsible for the loss/ damage of books occurring during the loan period.
  • Books must be handled with extreme care. If the books are lost, the borrower must replace them with copies of the same edition or the most recent edition, or they must pay cost of the books in three times after getting the librarian’s approval.
  • Members are not allowed to underline, mark, fold, torn, or otherwise alter books in any manner.
  • Borrowed library materials should be returned on or before the due date stamped otherwise, a late fee will be charged for the duration of delay.
  • The librarian may recall any book from any member at any time, and the member must return the book as soon as possible on a priority basis.
  • Loss of borrower card should be reported to the librarian immediately.
  • Accessing unwanted and unnecessary information from the internet is strictly prohibited.

Circulation Policy

Every staff and student of the college is eligible for library membership. The following norms must be adhered to when borrowing books from the library. All students, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff must strictly follow these norms.

 National Digital Library of India (NDLI)

Our college library has become member of National Digital Library of India (NDLI) which is promoted by Ministry of Education, Government of India. The NDLI platform offers free access to a large number of well reputed books and publications. It was created and run by Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IITK). Our college library has created NDLI Club to conduct variety of events among the student community to develop their knowledge, skill and traits which are essential for progression in their respective professional domain. More than 150 students in our college have become member of this club. Our college NDLI Club has been frequently organizing seminar, workshop, conference and other events to inculcate reading habits among the student fraternity.

Education at Polytechnic level extends beyond the classroom to the laboratories and library. Apart from the busy classroom schedule, the library provides a relaxing environment for learning. Our library is student-focused and reflects the vision of Sakthi Polytechnic College. The main aim of our library is to produce outstanding professionals as well as respectable citizens in order to achieve their greater academic excellence and pursue rewarding careers. Library treats every student as an individual in order to recognize their potential to achieve their goals. Our library encourages the students to visit the library in regular basis and discover the tremendous resources (books, journals and online reading materials) offered by the library and incorporate those resources into their technological projects. It is a place where the next generations of talented blossoms like a big tree.


National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL)

NPTEL is an active project funded by Ministry of Education, Government of India, to provide quality education to the interested learners. Sakthi Polytechnic College has been established as SWAYAM NPTEL Local Chapter (LC ID: 5537). NPTEL have been conducting computer-based exams in our college labs for various courses. Our college Librarian Dr. M. Thangapandy is appointed as Single Point of Contact (SPOC) of our College by NPTEL coordinator. Students from all discipline have been enrolling various courses under the label of Sakthi Polytechnic College and using our college facilities to enrich their knowledge. A main feature of SWAYAM is stated that, a learner can earn credits by completing the course and credit can even be transferred to the academic record of the learner, provided the course is related to their academic domain. Through this SPC local chapter, our faculty members are also encouraged to enroll the courses to know the current scenario of their technical domain.
